Nausicaa "Manga & Anime" Nausicaa is the princess of the Valley of the Wind. She is a spirited young girl who has a special talent to communicate with the insects and other creatures of the world. She is a kind hearted person who cares deeply for the people of the neighboring kingdoms. While all other military factions seek war and domination, Nausicaa desperately strives for a world of everlasting peace. |

King Jhil "Manga & Anime" King Jhil from the Valley of the Wind is Nausicaa's father. He is suffering from a debilitating disease, which is slowly and painfully turning his body to stone. Even near his deathbed, he is able to pass on his wisdom. He tells Nausicca to stay strong and lead her people with valor and benevolence. |

Lord Yupa "Manga & Anime" Lord Yupa is referred to as the greatest swordsman in all the land. His fighting skills are unsurpassed and no other warrior can match his expert swordsmanship. He travels the world in search of adventure while trying to find a means to help the people of the decaying world. |

Mito "Manga & Anime" Mito is like an uncle to Nausicaa. He is the King's sergeant-at-arms and a faithful retainer to Nausicaa. |

Tepa "Manga" Tepa is training to become the next wind-rider; due to Nausicaa's indefinite absence. During her training Nausicaa telepathically guides Tepa and instructs her on how to ride the subtle currents of the wind. |

Teto "Manga & Anime" Teto is a fox-squirrel. At first he is apprehensive towards Nausicaa. When Nausicaa shows her compassion for the little animal he becomes docile. From that point on Teto and Nausicaa become inseparable friends. |

Kai and Kui "Manga & Anime" Kai and Kui are Lord Yupa's personal Horseclaws. They are a species of flightless bird. They are used for transportation over long distances and as battle mounts in times of war. |

Asbel "Manga & Anime" Asbel is the prince of the kingdom of Pejite. He is a skilled combat pilot and almost single-handedly takes down the Torumekian Armada with his small fighter plane. |

Rastel "Manga & Anime" Rastel is the princess of the kingdom of Pejite and the twin sister of Asbel. She fatefully lost her life when her airship crashed in the Valley of the Wind; due to insect infestation. |

Kushana "Manga & Anime" Kushana is the princess of the kingdom of Torumekia. She is a high ranking ambitious officer whom commands her army to invade the Valley of the Wind. She forced the villagers to join her armed forces to aid in the fight against her enemies. |
|
Kurotowa "Manga & Anime" Kurotowa is princess Kushana's personal aid. He follows Kushana's every command, even though he despises her and would rather take command himself. |

The Emperor of Torumekia "Manga" The vial Emperor of Torumekia commands his own three sons as well as his daughter Kushana; to fight in his stead for domination and control over any oppressed kingdoms and to go to war with any nations that resist their authority. He even threatens to assassins his own kin if they perform poorly in their assigned duties. |

The Three Princes of Torumekia "Manga" The three princess of Torumekia each control portions of the Torumekia Armada. They are all forced to follow their fathers orders or be assassinated. |

Charuka "Manga" Charuka is a priest whom commands the Dorok armies. At first he is intent on going to war with his enemies; but when he meets Nausicaa his intension's are drastically altered by Nausicaa's kindness of heart and utter display of heroinism. |

Namulith "Manga" Namulith is the Dorok Emperor and is the elder brother to Miralupa. Namulith has a genetically altered Heedra body which makes him virtually unstoppable. His intentions are to marry princess Kushana in an effort to unite the kingdoms of Dorok and Torumekia. |

Miralupa "Manga" Miralupa is the younger brother of Namulith. While his elder brother has a everlasting Heedra body, Miralupa has incredible psychic powers. He tries to kill Nausicaa many times throughout the manga, but fails to do so. Once his psychic powers have been drained, his body needs to be regenerated in a special rejuvenation tank. |

Ketcha "Manga" Ketcha is a young girl from the Mani tribe. She later joins Lord Yupa and Asbel on their adventures, as well as their journey into the center of the Rot Wood. |

Chikuku "Manga" Chikuku was an apprentice of an ancient order of priests, whom lived in a hidden oasis. He has advanced telepathic powers, which allows him to help Nausicaa communicate with other factions of people. He is a loyal companion to Nausicaa since she saved him from a near-death situation. |

Selm "Manga" Selm is an inhabitant of the deepest part of the Rot Wood Forest. When Nausicaa was near-death, he helped her regain her spirit and awaken to the land of the living. When Nausicca was trying to escape from the Secret Garden, a place of piece and harmony, Selm spiritually protected her from the Master of the Garden, whom tried to keep Nausicaa trapped there for the duration of her life. |

Ohma "Manga" Ohma is the last of the ancient God-Warriors, beings of immense power whom destroyed the world long ago, thus creating the Rot Wood. When Ohma was resurrected he refereed to Nausicaa as his mother. At first, he was as innocent as a child, ignorant of the ways of the world. As he carried Nausicaa across the land, he slowly began to develop intelligence. His body gives off radiation that is harmful if exposed to for long periods of time. |

The Master of the Garden "Manga" He is the keeper of a secret garden containing the history of humankind prior to the destruction of the world. He has lived well over a millennium thriving in a place of harmony and piece, which is full of extinct flora and fauna. Over the countless centuries many people have stumbled upon and have become trapped within the confines of the garden. They each lived their lives peacfully, until they died. Their numerous tombstones can be seen laid across the fields of the sanctuary. Besides humans, the Master also has many peaceful Heedra perform regular duties to maintain the garden. |

Kest "Manga" Kest is an Ibex. He is the Master of the Garden's most valuable assistant. During Nausicaa's stay he makes her feel welcome and at home. |
